We're in what is sometimes known as diet season. A whole lot of people right around January 1st decide it's time for another diet attempt and unfortunately, a lot of those attempts don’t work. So let's talk a little bit about what does and doesn't work.
There are a lot of reasons why diets fail. One of them is because of unrealistic expectations, which leads to problems where

people say don't see and feel the difference, some feel hungry, deprived, and cranky.
Whatever the protocol of the diet is, it could just feel like it's too hard to maintain and some diets are frankly harmful. In fact, FTC says diet advice is one of the biggest areas if not the biggest area of consumer fraud.
So there's some really bad stuff out there that cannot be good for you to be involved in in the first place. Sometimes the diet's directions were unclear, sometimes the whole thing just becomes too boring, they're trying to narrow your choices down so that you don't want to eat because you just can't stand it.
Another big problem with a lot of diet is muscle loss. This slows down your metabolism because muscle burns more calories than fat. This will make it harder for you to lose weight due to your body slowing down and it will become easier to put weight back on.
It's important to remember that when you're trying to lose weight, you're really trying to change the composition of your body, so you should follow a program that has trusted results when it comes to weight loss and managing current weight levels free of fads and methods that don’t work.
